Help Me Grow

Comprehensive programming for children prenatal and 0-3. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part C, is a federal law which provides financial assistance to states for the purpose of providing services to infants and toddlers (age birth through two) with disabilities. The Family and Children First Council of each county directs the activities of the county Help Me Grow intake and referral site. Help Me Grow promotes the well being of young children through home-based and specialized services and public awareness, with emphasis on early intervention and prevention. Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Kids in Transition
Teaches children ages 5-18 how to deal with issues they face when parents separate and divorce.
Schedule: Fourth Tuesday of each month. Pre-registration is necessary.

O.S.U. 4-H Program
Focus:  Youth development through hands on experiences for children 4-19.
Schedule: program runs continuously throughout the year.

Parenting for Peaceful Families
Focus:  A comprehensive parenting education program dealing with communicating, managing stress and resolving conflict in a non-violent way.  Appropriate for families with children from prenatal through age 5.

Reflections
Focus:  This is a bereavement support group with a seven week structured agenda, co-sponsored by St. Joseph Church Bereavement Team and Hospice of Ashtabula County.

WIC Breastfeeding Educational Program
Focus: To provide support and education on the benefits of breastfeeding and good nutrition.  Pregnant, post partum, or breastfeeding mothers up to 1 year qualify.

WIC Program of Ashtabula County
Focus:  Nutrition education program which provides highly nutritious supplemental foods for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, postpartum women, infants and children up to age 5.  These individuals must meet WIC income guidelines.

Youth Opportunities Project
Focus:  Education, work experience and personal development of youth ages 14 to 21.  Services include after-school and in-school tutoring; GED/alternative secondary education for out-of-school youth; occupational readiness skills training; work experience.  Schedule: Registration and eligibility determination is ongoing/year round.
